WHY I CREATED THIS

I Did Not Create This Because Teaching Came Naturally to Me.

I created it because it didn’t.

For nearly my first ten years of teaching, I was doing what I thought I was supposed to do.

I planned first-day activities. I explained my routines. I told students my expectations. I worked incredibly hard to be prepared.

And I still found myself repeating directions, making nearly every classroom decision, and wondering why the classroom I pictured was not the classroom I was actually teaching in.

I was trying to manage a classroom I had never intentionally built.

Then I learned the secret: how you build the classroom matters more than how many activities you plan.

Once I began intentionally designing the first experiences around High Expectations, Student Voice, and Relationships, everything changed. My students participated differently. They took more ownership. Our community became stronger. And teaching became joyful again.

After more than 20 years in education, I now turn those tried-and-true moves into frameworks teachers can follow with confidence—and still make completely their own.

This is the framework I wish I had in Year One.

REAL TEACHERS. REAL TRUST. REAL RESULTS.

The Framework Matters.
So Does Who Built It.

These teachers worked with me through instructional coaching. Their words speak to the experience, support, and real classroom thinking behind every framework I create.

Real Classroom Experience

Sarah brings both professionalism and real classroom experience into every interaction.

Her insight, experience, and hands-on support make a lasting impact on both teachers and classrooms.

— Aziza, 5th Grade Teacher

Growth That Sticks

She builds on your strengths while pushing you to grow, try new strategies, and improve your teaching in ways that actually stick.

“My teaching has been permanently improved because of this work.”

— Katie, 5th Grade Teacher

Deep Trust + Real Growth

Sarah is trustworthy and the definition of authentic. Every time we talk, I feel heard, supported, and understood.

It truly feels like we’re in this together—not just coaching, but real partnership.

— Jackie, 2nd Grade Teacher

LET’S BE HONEST

The First Three Days Are Not Filler Before the “Real Teaching” Begins.

They are when students begin learning how your classroom works, how they are expected to participate, whose voice matters, and what kind of community they are joining.

You can fill those days with games, supply sorting, and introductions—and still enter Week Two without having built the routines, expectations, and ownership your classroom needs.

Your first three days should not merely keep students busy.
They should begin building your classroom.

THE PROVEN 3 SUCCESS PILLARS™

Give Every First-Day Experience a Job

Instead of collecting disconnected activities, you will build each part of your plan around the foundations students need from the beginning.

High Expectations

Help students experience, practice, and understand expectations instead of simply listening while you explain them.

Student Voice

Create opportunities for students to contribute, make decisions, and begin taking ownership from Day One.

Relationships

Help students connect with you—and learn how to collaborate, contribute, and belong with one another.

Students begin building the classroom with you—not waiting for you to manage every part of it for them.

A FRAMEWORK—not SOMEONE ELSE’S CLASSROOM

You Do Not Need a Script for Someone Else’s Students.

Your kindergarten classroom should not look exactly like an eighth-grade classroom. Your students, school, schedule, personality, and teaching style matter.

That is why this course does not hand you a rigid minute-by-minute script. It gives you a proven planning framework, examples, prompts, and decision-making tools you can adapt to your own K–8 classroom.

Tried and true does not mean one-size-fits-all.

Follow the framework. Make the decisions. Build a classroom that feels like yours.

MORE THAN THREE DAYS OF ACTIVITIES

You Are Designing What Students Will Experience.

Every activity you choose should help students learn something important about themselves, one another, or the classroom they are building with you.

✓ Expectations students experience and practice
✓ Routines students can begin using independently
✓ Relationships that strengthen participation
✓ Student voice from the very beginning
✓ A community students know how to contribute to
✓ Early opportunities for ownership and leadership

The goal is not simply to fill three days.
It is to make the days that follow easier.

THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF…

You Want More Than a Schedule Filled With Activities.

✓ You are a new K–8 teacher who does not want to wing the most important days of the year.

✓ You are an experienced teacher who knows this year needs a more intentional beginning.

✓ You have been told you are getting a challenging class and want to build the culture before managing the behavior.

✓ You are changing grade levels, schools, or teaching roles and want a framework you can adapt.

✓ You want your students participating, contributing, and taking ownership earlier in the year.

WALK IN WITH A PLAN

Imagine Walking Into Day One Knowing…

Knowing what you will do—and exactly why it matters.

✓ Your first three days are mapped out and ready to use.

✓ You know which routines, expectations, and ownership moves to teach first.

✓ Your activities intentionally build High Expectations, Student Voice, and Relationships.

✓ You walk in prepared and confident about the classroom you are building.

Build it FIRST.
Manage it SECOND.™
